Electric Car Fire in Başakşehir Causes Panic, Building Evacuated
An electric Mercedes caught fire in a residential complex parking lot in Başakşehir. The nighttime blaze caused widespread panic in the building. As a result, the 14-story structure was temporarily evacuated.
Security guards quickly noticed smoke rising from the parking area. Emergency services were immediately dispatched to the scene. Police, firefighters, and medical teams promptly responded. Due to the heavy smoke, evacuating the building became essential, and residents were moved to a safe location.
Police secured the surrounding area. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, preventing the flames from spreading to other vehicles. The burnt car sustained significant material damage.

Murat Karabayır, the vehicle’s owner, spoke about the incident. “We don’t know how the fire started,” he said. “This was an electric car, and it was charging. We had plugged it in last night. This is the first time we’ve encountered something like this; otherwise, we wouldn’t have bought this car.” A comprehensive investigation into the incident has been launched.
